Embraced by the Light- Kim Palmer
I am always amazed at the light that surrounds a newborn child.
As if the heavens above shine their light upon them.
The warm embrace of his mother's love will stay within me forever.

Kim Palmer was an extraordinary soul. I only spent one day with her, yet on the 20th of August, in 1996 it was as if I spent a lifetime. We connected instantly, as if two old souls were reuniting from a time past. The light and energy that surrounded her I could detect immediately... and I was so drawn to her light and her love for her new son.
I could hear her voice without her ever
speaking a word, all I had to do was watch the light and energy move around
her. I knew that this young woman was truly a gift, she seemed to be at a
higher vibration or dimension that most of us. Kim was a messenger with
her presence. Kim understood that their was a purpose for us together, if
even for that one day. She deeply understood the spiritual truths that I
was in search of within the light, and her spirit opened up to me, revealing an
energy and beauty rarely seen in our world. (The beam of infrared light in the
first image has never been captured again.) For on this day, Kim was the
universal link that brought the invisible realm of spirit into the visible
world that our bodies live in. Kim revealed the wisdom of her soul... Looking
through the lens of my camera I was able to truly feel beyond. Not just see it,
but completely become one. One with the light, one with her, one with
Spirit.
I was deeply affected to discover that Kim had become a victim of Domestic Violence. I could not comprehend how a human being so compassionate...embracing all of the love, light and energy of our world would have to experience such a violent departure. I began to question the reality of those spiritual truths, and the difficult lessons that life places upon all of us. I still do not have the answers, but as I continue my search, my journey now includes Kim once more. I know that I have to do my part, whatever small amount that might be. There must be peace within our homes before we can ever imagine to have peace on earth.
The strong connection that I have to keep Kim's light alive, is through the infrared image entitled 'Embraced by the Light'. It is the oneness. It represents the universal spirit and connections that we all share on this earth. This image has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States, appeared in newspaper articles, graced the invitation for The Infrared Light Gallery® appears in the book The Sacred Light, and finds home in private collections. Embraced by the Light is limited to 100 original print editions, and the remaining originals will represent Embraced by the Light- Kim Palmer in order to raise awareness for Domestic Violence. The silver gelatin photographs will only be sold via The Infrared Light Gallery® , so the proceeds can be donated to New Hope for Women in Rockland, Maine in Kim's honor.
Kim Palmer was not just a professional model, she was a gift to me. Kim is a piece of my own life's mosaic, and one that I treasure beyond words.
